Ok Haylee has tagged me so....for those who don't follow the world of blog's being "tagged" is where you are asked to participate in a blog game where I'm supposed to list
8 interesting things about myself that my blog readers may not know and
then try to get 8 other photographers to do the same!
So thought it may be fun for everyone to read some of the answers...
1. I love mowing the lawn...Really that must be sooo interesting? but really i am a sucker for the smell of fresh cut grass...the quiet time where nobody is saying "mom..mom..mom..mom..uhmmm mom.."
that and I am the only one in the house that doesn't melt outside in the Va heat.
2. I am always cold...yep I will have my electric blanket back on the bed no later than the end of September. Drives everyone else in the house nuts but I sit on the couch working most days/nights curled up with an afghan and my laptop.
3. I could eat desserts for breakfast lunch and dinner. I love sweets :-) Complete sugar addict..it's bad!
4. I am a minimalist when it comes to sessions and shoots. Big believer in really trying to catch not only the moment but the emotions and mood. I regular session bag has my 5D, 85mm 1.8, 24mm 2.8 and my 580 flash (it's a bit dusty). Weddings the bag does swell a bit more to three bodies and a couple of zoom lens and flashes. Yes, I own five huge softboxes, mono lights etc..but...they are in storage and dusty. Yes, I have the backdrop stand and even own backdrops...you guessed it, they are in storage. I am a FIRM believer that for me the emotion I capture is the most important detail I want to capture. It can also be the hardest thing to capture. I want to have folks forget that I am there. I want to blend and have them laugh and have fun and forget there is a photographer clicking...if I added the big huge flash, softboxes and background the emotion is no longer authentic...the moment is maybe not lost but soooo different. The photos that I will be adding this week from the Vets Hospital will be the best demonstration of this point I may ever have. As an artist I want to be in the moment myself...part of it and feeling it...not so much creating it..and I am rambling...I do that often
5. Five is much like six...I love people..I love hearing their stories and will often sit and gab with my clients for hours about not much of much. Really getting to know them as a person/family not just a person/family who wants a portrait. I am extremely laid back/easy going and have never met a stranger. I love the human aspect of this job. We all have these life stories. These stories and pictures are what make us who we are and tell our stories for generations to come. They are a common thread that we all have. Rich or poor, young or old..we all have a story.
I am as bad as any five year old..i love a good story. Daryl and Mike used to make fun of me in college cause they would come home and I would be hanging out with the plumber/cable guy and would have there entire life story. Maybe I should have been a shrink....nah..not near as much fun :-)
6. I spent the whole day at a Toyota dealership buying my brand new 2008 Sienna...I am in love...Never thought I would be in love with a mini-van..but alas there is such a joy in not being kicked in the back by little feet....
7. I do everything on a laptop..We own collectively 6 computers..and I can't stop editing on a fricking laptop..I am sick..truly sick :-) I do however have my eye on this iMac but not sure if the 85mm 1.2 will win first.
8. Ok laugh if you must..I have a "magnetic" personality. Stick with me here...I kill everything electrical. I am the only person I have ever met who has had two dslr's crap out on them in less than a two year time span (one after only owning it for a whole 13 days). I kill computers on a yearly basis. When Daryl and I walk under street light's we swear they flicker and go out (it's rather creepy..lol :-) Last week alone my old car crapped out on me and it was electrical crap! Then I get in Daryl's car for a session an hour away from home and in the middle of this huge storm I stop in a Target parking lot to let the storm pass and wouldn't you know the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start..ughhhhh. When I jokingly brought up that I wasn't sure if maybe lighting had struck near the car and maybe fried it we looked around and noticed that all the parking lot lights surrounding me were all burnt out...really just strange stuff. I am always joking that Canon needs to make me there tester because any camera that can live through Tisha can survive any photographer. And trust me..I baby my cameras...
hate to do it but the thing with being tagged is you are suppose to tag 8 other photographers...the thing is I have got so many friends (some are and some aren't photographers) who take great photos and I would love to know more about them as well..I figure since when have I ever followed the rules? so....
